Software Edd Recommends

Here is a list fo software which I recommend

I am always adding to this…

• OpenBSD - My hobby OS, very small, very secure, very free.
• Solaris - For enterprise computing, but harder to port software to.

I pretty much use mutt all the time for mail with both my gmail account and also my Uni email account over IMAP.

My favorite browser is elinks , but unfortunately is of limited use for some websites which are highly graphical or use javascript heavily. Mostly I use Firefox .

This is a difficult one because I change depending upon my mood:

• CWM - When I feel minimal.
• XFCE4 - When I feel normal.
• Scrotwm - For tiling.
• OpenBox - Just sometimes.

The Z-shell . Or on minimal OpenBSD installs, the default ksh.

No-brainer, TeX Live , with TeX Works .

For general audio/video, I use MPlayer , sometimes with the SMPlayer GUI .

My music box runs MPD and I access it over the network using ncmpc .

BSD Vi or Vim . But real programmers...

Other than CVS , which I use for OpenBSD work, Subversion is what I use for my personal projects.
